About Us

We have been encouraging students and their families through one on one relationships since 1992.

"All Ways Learning" is a statement of purpose and methodology. We want to purposefully pursue the life long process of learning—learning about the One true and omnipotent God, His infallible Word, and His wonderful creation. Our methodology recognizes that within the human mind there are multiple intelligences. These allow for different learning styles, which require an eclectic approach in all venues of teaching. Finally, in both purpose and method, we must acknowledge the One who is the source of all wisdom, so that He constantly directs us in All our Ways of Learning.

We believe

That the best way to teach academics is one teacher mentoring one student. The instructor can promote the best learning environment with no distractions from others and with strict concentration on what that individual student needs.

That enrichment programs, like sports, drama, and art, offered in small groups, provide the opportunity for the students to share with one another and build cooperation.

That our brains are fueled by the food that we eat, and that healthy food produces better thought. The more processed the food, the less it promotes overall brain development and strong reasoning. Food additives including large amounts of corn syrup, sugar, salt, and artificial flavors and colors can actually stimulate the brain in ways that are harmful to both learning and behavior. If a healthy diet is in place, an occasional (two or three times per week) treat of dessert or chips is appropriate. But overall, the importance of wise food choices cannot be overstated.

The brain actually connects its synapses differently when influenced by high-powered stimuli such as T.V., videos, and computer games. Long exposure actually can result in Attention Deficit Disorder, hyperactivity, and difficulty in reading and writing. While we do advocate using educational videos to enhance learning on a certain subject and watching a movie for enjoyment once in a while, the ratio of good learning choices to video, T.V., and computer games, should be at least 8 to one—8 hours of good brain developing choices to every one hour of viewing. These choices can include puzzles, board games, creative writing, poem or scripture memorization, music instruction, arts and crafts, listening to books on tape or CD, drama . . .and any number of creative outlets, but most especially, reading!

The Best Books

To us at All Ways Learning, what we bring to a book is just as important as what the book brings to us.Reading is interactive. The experiences and emotions in a story mingle with our understanding of life. But more than that, the book increases our understanding by adding new dimensions and thoughts. Each story allows us to live lives and dream dreams that would otherwise be unreachable. And, too, we are comforted by what we read, because sometimes we share the exact idea or feeling expressed in the story; then we know we are not alone.
